Sometimes Bognor can be a stoney beach, the next a long golden sandy coastline and during scouring tides it can be a muddy heaven for fossil hunters. Rich in Shells, Insects and Plants, and in particular large well preserved superb shells. Its either returning with nothing or bags full.



Location Information

The problem with Bognor is that fossils can only be found in the right conditions, when beach scouring occurs. At this time, you can come home with bags of finds. Unfortunately if it wasn't for the problems of beach conditions, this would have been a 'High' location.

(Suitable for Children)

Although this location is suitable for children. Children must be told to keep away from the mud flaps and soft clay area. Fossils can only be found during scouring conditions when the clay is exposed on the foreshore.

Bognor is easy to get to, not too far to walk to, and is very good for families and children.
