Burnham-on-Crouch has yielded an incredible variety of fossils, you just never know what you may find. Various sharks species (teeth and vertebrae most common), crabs, seeds, fish remains (including ray teeth), and much more.

Location Information
	Burnham on Crouch yields many fossils from the London Clay, the london clay at Burnham, produces a lot of fossil wood and pyrites, so you will need to look hard and it is often a 'on your knees' job.
	(Not Suitable) *This site is not suitable for children, due to the long walk and the large amount of glass on the foreshore.*
	Unfortunately access to this site is quite poor, a long walk with limited/restricted parking, or an even longer walk.
	Foreshore, Cliff Most of the fossils can be found on the foreshore especially after storms or scouring conditions, but fossils are also commonly found at the base of the cliff on the scree slopes. This is an SSSI Site so you must not dig directly in the cliff.

Common sense when collecting at all locations should be taken and knowledge of tide times should always be noted. The main danger at walton is boggy areas of mud close to the river, which in the past people have become stuck. Please keep away from these areas. There is also a large amount of 'glass' on the beach, please take extra care especially if searching on your hands and knees.
